I have reinstalled my system due to some mess I made and could not fix however, after reinstallation I could no longer access my web server from outside, I am using a VPN in order to obtain a static IP address.

At the moment I am buildign my web site and using this machine to test it out but I can not bring myself to understand why did it all stop working after reinstallation.

sudo netstat -napW | grep apache

tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1474/apache2

I can access the web server wit hthe static ip address from my own machine but not from others not even those in LAN.

Could anyone help me out here.

Please take into consideration that I am no expert, jsut learn as I go, been using linux for about a year and a half.

Start with checking firewall:
# sudo iptables -L
or check it the "easy" way, disable firewall temporary:
# sudo service iptables stop
Then try to connect to webserver. If it works, then you know it's a firewall issue. You probably need help adding correct allow rule, just report back so we know it is the firewall.

If it doesn't help, post output of:

# sudo iptables -L
# ps aux |grep apache
Also describe the network - webserver (= "my own machine" ?) ip, LAN subnet, switches, routers, firewalls whatever you have.
