can some one recommend...
can some one recommend a good, heavy and reliable Email server
that can handle many - domain and that you can configure some domain to have their own POP/SMTP.. Would that sound a bell on you gurus Linux Guys Gals? thanks golpe |
Sendmail, Postfix, Qmail, Exim.. they can all pretty much handle mail. They all have their pros and cons, pick one you like and stick with it.
Personally I suggest postfix, it's stable, secure, easy to configure and just simply works and has most of the stuff you'll ever need available without having to compile a million other packages. Sendmail is one of the oldest. It's stable but a beast to administer. Think of Postfix like a modern sendmail. Qmail has it's loyal followers. You have to compile a million packages just to get it working how you like it or need with it. The creator is an ass, doesn't support anything and will tell you to RTFM if you have any questions or problems. I had to deal with it at a previous employer and it just didn't scale for us very well, we migrated to Postfix. Exim, I literally know nothing about and have never used it. |

Hello, I think Axigen is good mail server as it provides ease in administration. (www.axigen.com). |
My vote definitely goes to Postfix. Its great in terms of performance, security and manageability. Wietse is also really helpful. A few weeks back I posted an 8bit MIME issue on his mailing list. Within 48 hours there was a patch out to solve it.
