Thumbs down Can not disable Directory Indexing on a Slackware 9.1 Apache 1 Webserver...

I am not sure why it is ignoring my settings, but my webserver is allowing directory indexing much to my dismay.

Here is what my httpd.conf looks like-

Code:
<Directory /home/me/www/website_folder>
     Options Includes FollowSymLinks Multiviews
     AllowOverride None
     Order Allow,Deny
     Allow from all
</Directory>
Indexes is no where to be seen in that...why does it still allow indexing?

I even tried putting '-Indexes' with the same result.

What else can I do on this older set up?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have AllowOverride none, or some other override restriction in the parent configuration? It sounds like you're not allowed to override the settings.

still nothing

Thanks for your reply.
I went back, looked over the conf file, saw the Directory for '/'
which I thought was just there to prevent people from surfing the whole computer...

here is how it was set up...
Code:
<Directory />
     Order Deny,Allow
     Deny from All
</Directory>
I added the line
Code:
AllowOverride All
but there was no change after I restarted Apache.
I went ahead and changed it back to what it was.

Not sure what to do.

Also tried adding an .htaccess file to the webroot dir.

I must say that this is strange. Unless your Apache configuration is fundamentally different from those I've worked with, or you're editing the wrong configuration file, it should work. (BTW: I have actually edited the wrong file.)
