Can I use Sendmail as a Mail Server to append HTML to messages?

We have several people in our office with their own email accounts (different domains)who would like to have their messages branded. I'd like to set up our own server, and have the messages pass through, and the applicable HTML template applied to each message, based on the sender.

I know there are services that provide this, but at $140 each per year, I'd rather keep it inhouse. It seems most services have the clients change their outgoing mail server.

is this possible with sendmail, or am I on the wrong track? emailstationery.com or http://www.fabusend.com/ are some samples of what I'm trying to replicate

Somehow I doubt they would "like" it to...

Welcome to your own private world of hurt in which you deal with b0rkage caused by a gazillion different MUA's, plain text, MIME, TNEF and other standards they (don't) adhere to, etc, etc. Check the last sentence of http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi....php?p=1921256 but please read Stupid Email Disclaimers as well.

Actually, they DO. They don't want an email disclaimer. They want a customized picture header and footer, with links to their site, etc. I've managed tost it up in outlook and thunderbird, but they use iphones and webmail and want their messages branded from everywhere. Easiest way to do this for different domains would be using a relay server (I think).

inboxfx DOES this- you have to change your outgoing mail server- and would work, but at $150 a year, I thought I could set up my own. Thanks for the link...email disclaimers might work. Maybe it's not sendmail I should be looking at, then? I'm also worried about their messages being marked as spam if they're being relayed from a different servr.

Clear to see they don't have to read the mails they send, or pay for the mailbox space and bandwidth to move them.
It can also interfere with encrypted or signed email messages and if you don't correctly follow the letter of the MIME specs you can easily break file attachments, multiparts, etc.

This kind of personalization is best done in the client however if you must, check out milter (mail filter):
