Can anyone access a DLNA server outside my subnet?

hello all,

I don't know much about DLNA, but here is a scenario:

If I setup a DLNA server in linux or an android tablet can my media files be access outside my subnet. For example, I don't want a next door neighbor accessing my media files if they did a DLNA scan on their DLNA player.

I only want my media files to be access only from my home on locally connected DLNA players.

This would be a function of your router to prevent incoming traffic rather than the actual server. Unless you're using the server as your router I suppose.
