Can a Linux box forward DNS quiries to a Win 2003 Domain Controller?

We are running a Windows 2003 Domain Controller. This handles all the DNS queries for our LAN. Is it possible to have our Linux Box running Fedora Core 3 and which is acting as our gateway to query our Domain Controller for DNS resolutions? If yes how? We would love to have forward queries it cant resolve to the Domain Controller.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

If you just want to have your Fedora 3 box to be able to resolve hostnames against the domain controller, just add the IP of the server in /etc/resolv.conf as follows:

nameserver <IP of machine>

e.g.

nameserver 192.168.1.1

I'm assuming you don't have DHCP running.

I think you mean you want your Fedora box to "be" the DNS server, and forward querys to your domain controller.

If your using bind (named):

Edit named.conf and add forwarders "man named.conf".

The thing is that Active Directory depends in it's DNS, so you'll probably have Authentication problems later.

You should look at this:

Thanks

Thanks guys. It turned out that the Win 2003 DC was not responding to the Linux Box DNS queries since it wasnt rtaking it to be in its domain. everything is fine now.
