Building A server - need distro recomendations

I'm building a LAMP server. I plan to run Postfix or qmail for e-mail. I'm looking for distro recommendations. I'm looking for an easy to use graphical interface to configure most settings, I don't have a lot of time to manage the server - so every thing needs to be quick and easy to setup/maintain.

I've used Open Suse and had good results, but I was wondering if some one would recommend other distros.

thank you.

Nino

www.distrowatch.com is your best choice. Members here will only give their favorite or the one they used. It's your distro or server, you choose which one suits you best.. ;)

There are an endless number of possibilities, but personally I like to use Fedora for servers. I tend to have better experiences with Fedora on servers than many other operating systems. For a graphical interface, the only thing I've ever used before is Webmin, which is quite well built, but ultimately I usually prefer to use the CLI.

CentOS or Ubuntu LTS ftw!

SuSe 10.2 is so friggin easy it is pathetic. With Yast2, you can download packages and grab dependencies at the same time. I use it for my LAMP server.

I run mine on opensuse as well. The YaST LAMP install option is nice.

Debian has apt-get, Redhat and most other RPM based distro's based from it can easily use yum.. Slackware with slapt-get or swaret, Gentoo with it's own emerge.. ;)

personally i would use SME Server 7.1

its all administered with a web broswer, automatically sets up the mail server with a webmail interface. It will also act as a IMAP & POP3 Server as well as SMTP

personally that would be my choice
