Best practice for recovering from lost+found

I had a volume on a server recently get so screwed up, I think essentially everything got moved into lost+found. While i have that data restored to a different volume, thought this might be a good time to figure out what i could really do if i didnt have a backup and had to do something with what the e2fsck recovered.

Does anyone have a good article or best practice to follow when trying to look through or recover data out of lost+found?

Quick google search returned this. I have never had a need to try but seems straight forward.

Thanks jv. Yeah, found a bunch via Google, some requiring things to be setup prior to a crash, some without. Guess i'm just wondering from people's past experiences what seemed to work best.

I've never had to try it before, but since the opportunity presented itself and I really don't need to recover the files since i restored from a backup, figured this would be a good chance to try.
