Bad sectors
 
Hi,
Gurus and Friends

i am currently running RHEL5 kernel 2.6.18.53.el5 32bit.
i would like to know is there any patches to update above kernel
if there any patches please guide me how to update the patch.

one more Query.
how to check if there any bad sectors in my HDD.
is there any command in redhat Linux to check the bad sectors in HDD.

As far as I can see latest right now is kernel 2.6.18-194.8.1.el5 with build date 02/Jul/2010. Any reason why you can not 'yum update' your kernel version?

~]$ apropos bad
badblocks            (8)  - search a device for bad blocks

Note fsck usually provides a front end for this as in 'fsck.ext3 -c'.
