apache2 and frontpage support, is it possible ?


Hello, i want to ask for a guide how to install frontpage extensions on apache2 , i searched a lot but i can't collect the pieces , in the most cases i can't find the correct files.... can someone help ? distro = debian

I found this, but they are very old.

Frontpage is, er, less than optimal. It would be better to find an alternative.

yes i tried these 2 guides but i thnink its not for apache2 , i could not follow them, from the start with the config files that doesnot exists...

Wasn't Frontpage discontinued years ago? If I remember correctly the Apache add-ons for Frontpage were also a security nightmare.

Do you absolutely have to have Frontpage?

yes you are right, but i have an old site and i have to support its hosting....

Well then, I think you're in for a world of hurt. A production quality version of Apache 2 wasn't released until 2002, and Frontpage development was stopped in 2003, so I seriously doubt that Microsoft ever made an Apache 2 compatible version of the Frontpage extensions.

Which leaves you with the really bad option of running an Apache 1.3 server for this site. Since Apache no longer supports this version, and Microsoft no longer supports Frontpage, I can't even begin to express what a security nightmare this is. Please tell me this site will never, ever, under any circumstances be exposed to the Internet.
