apache2 (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80

Hi,

I'm running a VPS on linode with Ubuntu.
I have also installed ISPconfig.
Today my websites suddenly stopped working. I tried some stuff and like restarting apache2.

When I do
sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 stop
sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 start

I get this error

Quote:
* Starting web server apache2 (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80
no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs
Action 'start' failed.
The Apache error log may have more information.
I looked around on the forum and found it seems like the output of these commands might help me solve the problem. But don't realy know what to do with them.

dpkg --list apache*

Hi,

From the netstat output looks like apache is running and listening on port 80 (also listening on 8080, 8081)
Code:
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:8080 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2863/apache2
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2863/apache2
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:8081 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2863/apache2
So I guess you have 2 invocations of
Quote:
Listen 80
Check /etc/apache2/ports.conf and /etc/apache2/apache2.conf and delete the 2nd occurrence

Regards
