Apache serving different results by browser

I've got apache running on Mandriva 2006; we just moved a domain over to the server.

When I access one specific directory in the site say www.domain.com/support in Firefox two things happen.
1) Firefox tells me I'm trying to download an application of type x-backup and asks if I want to save or open.
2) if I save it and then look at the file, it seems that I'm looking at actual php code; or perhaps a blend of php and html code.
It does this both on Firefox running under linux or windows.

Alternatively if I view the page say in Konqueror or lynx, I get the HTML page www.domain.com/support/index.html just as I'd expect.

I see nothing in the logs of note.

I'm stumped . This is bizarre, I'm a bit tapped out as to where to look next. Google's not providing any answers either. Any thoughts would be deeply appreciated.

To me, it sounds more like a coding issue in your index.html page than a server error. Did you verify your page is w3C compliant?
