What methods did you try? Why didn't they work?

You could use an alias, or perhaps a symbolic link in var/www/html

you can specify the path in virtual hosts if your using apache and u have acces to modify the httpd.conf

NameVirtualHost 123.234.32.34

<VirtualHost 123.234.32.34:80>
ServerName www.xyx.com
DocumentRoot /your_path
DirectoryIndex index.html
</VirtualHost>

or u can use alias as said by billymayday

hope this work out for you

you are too vague with your answers.. you should tell me where to write configuration lines.. I tried adding in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000/000-default the last 6 lines:
Code:
NameVirtualHost *
<VirtualHost *>
	ServerAdmin rino.cal@hotmail.com
	ServerName rino-cald.no-ip.info
	DocumentRoot /var/www
	<Directory />
		Options FollowSymLinks
		AllowOverride None
	</Directory>
	<Directory /var/www/>
		Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
		AllowOverride None
		Order allow,deny
		allow from all
		# Uncomment this directive is you want to see apache2's
		# default start page (in /apache2-default) when you go to /
		#RedirectMatch ^/$ /apache2-default/
	</Directory>

	ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/
	<Directory "/usr/lib/cgi-bin">
		AllowOverride None
		Options +ExecCGI -MultiViews +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch
		Order allow,deny
		Allow from all
	</Directory>

	ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/error.log

	# Possible values include: debug, info, notice, warn, error, crit,
	# alert, emerg.
	LogLevel warn

	CustomLog /var/log/apache2/access.log combined
	ServerSignature Off

	SSLEngine on
	SSLCertificateFile /etc/apache2/ssl/apache.pem
	SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/apache2/ssl/82b0e054.0
</VirtualHost>

NameVirtualHost 192.168.0.69

<VirtualHost 192.168.0.69:443>
ServerName https://rino-cald.no-ip.info/
DocumentRoot /mnt/win_e/
DirectoryIndex index.html
</VirtualHost>

by the way my apache2.conf (http.conf is not used in apache2, the file is opnly for backward compatibility) is:

Code:
# Based upon the NCSA server configuration files originally by Rob McCool.
# Changed extensively for the Debian package by Daniel Stone <daniel@sfarc.net>
# and also by Thom May <thom@debian.org>.

# ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
# configuration, error, and log files are kept.
#
# NOTE! If you intend to place this on an NFS (or otherwise network)
# mounted filesystem then please read the LockFile documentation
# (available at <URL:http://www.apache.org/docs/mod/core.html#lockfile>);
# you will save yourself a lot of trouble.

ServerRoot "/etc/apache2"

# The LockFile directive sets the path to the lockfile used when Apache
# is compiled with either USE_FCNTL_SERIALIZED_ACCEPT or
# USE_FLOCK_SERIALIZED_ACCEPT. This directive should normally be left at
# its default value. The main reason for changing it is if the logs
# directory is NFS mounted, since the lockfile MUST BE STORED ON A LOCAL
# DISK. The PID of the main server process is automatically appended to
# the filename.

LockFile /var/lock/apache2/accept.lock

# PidFile: The file in which the server should record its process
# identification number when it starts.

PidFile /var/run/apache2.pid

# Timeout: The number of seconds before receives and sends time out.

Timeout 300

# KeepAlive: Whether or not to allow persistent connections (more than
# one request per connection). Set to "Off" to deactivate.

KeepAlive On

# MaxKeepAliveRequests: The maximum number of requests to allow
# during a persistent connection. Set to 0 to allow an unlimited amount.
# We recommend you leave this number high, for maximum performance.

MaxKeepAliveRequests 100

# KeepAliveTimeout: Number of seconds to wait for the next request from the
# same client on the same connection.

KeepAliveTimeout 15

maybe you could tell us more about why you are trying to accomplish this. there may be a more logical solution than mucking around with httpd.conf. To me it would make sense to add a symbolic link in /var/www (as stated by billymayday) like this:

# ln -s /mnt/win_e/ win_e

This way you can just refer to everything in in the win_e folder as https://rinonapo.no-ip.info/win_e/.

hi rinonapo,
wether u configure httpd.conf or apache2.conf both are one and the same only change in the version of apache u are using.

but the virtual host configuration remains same, u use the same code in both the versions.

just check out the code of apache.conf u have put up

----------
"# Include module configuration:
Include /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/*.load
Include /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/*.conf

# Include all the user configurations:
Include /etc/apache2/httpd.conf

# Include ports listing
Include /etc/apache2/ports.conf
"
----------
u see in the above that ur configuration file is again calling httpd.conf file and other configuration. its only that in apache ver 2 the configuration files have been separated out, in older version it used to remain in one single file.

now at the bottom of your apache.conf file, u can see the following code
----------
"
# Include the virtual host configurations:
Include /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/[^.#]*
"
----------
u just check out which is the file it is calling for the virtual host configuration and write the Virtual host code in that file, it will work out for you

it is little bit confusing in apache ver 2 but the basics remains the same.

further the https site which u want to configure in the apache is it hosted on the same server or some other server

NameVirtualHost 192.168.0.69

<VirtualHost 192.168.0.69:443>
ServerName https://rinonapo.no-ip.info/
DocumentRoot /mnt/win_e/
DirectoryIndex index.html
</VirtualHost>
-------------------
u can refer the following eg. code
<VirtualHost 192.168.0.69>
Servername www.abc.info
DocumentRoot /var/www/html/abcprojects/
DirectoryIndex index.php
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost 192.168.0.69>
ServerName www.xyz.info
DocumentRoot /data/html/project2
DirectoryIndex index.php
</VirtualHost>

note : if u are trying of load the files from the folder which is mounted and the actual folder lies in some windows machine, please be carefull, as u have to make sure that both the machines are up and running and further u should have the mount details writen in "/etc/fstab" file, it is not a feasible solution to do so.

The reason is that /mnt/win_e has a lot of images I would like to share with apache and copying them to /var/www wouldn't be feasible... Adding a link like u said didn't work...I checked symlink were enabled in apache.conf but couldn't see why it didn't work...

thanks nesargha.. the line su told me to check in apache.conf where all correct..
I tried adding the virtualhost again but nothing..

the /mnt/win_e is a partition on the same computer but another hard disk which is correctly mounted..
rino-cald.no-ip.info is a dinamic dns redirecting.. but it's me who's hosting the server pages..

Ok I found what it is... adding a symlink works only if the symlink points to a linux drive.. /mnt/win_e is a vfat and does't work..anyone has an idea??

and also something crazy!!! read this: is I add a simlink to /home/calde/ my home directory this opens the root folder of http://www.rocketjones.mu.nu/ when accessing my sevrer http://rino.redirectme.net that's crazy!!!! I'll have to write to them about it!!
