Apache 2.2 Doesn't Proccess .exe files

Hey everyone,

I'm migrating CONTENTdm (some digital archiving software) from a SuSE 9.1 box w/ Apache 2.0 to a SuSE 10.1 box w/ Apache 2.2.

In addition to PHP5, CONTENTdm uses some .exe files. When trying to access one of these files in my web browser, Apache doesn't execute it and send the output to my browser. Instead, it just pops up a dialog box to download the .exe file. It didn't do this on the old (9.1) machine. I have run out of ideas on this. I thought it might have something to do with the mime.types file in /etc and I toyed with that for a while. No dice.

Anyone know what's going on with this?

Thanks folks!

- Gavin

Lightbulb

Okay, I've gotten a little further. Duh. Look in 'yer logs once in a while, ThisGuyIKnow, yuh big idiot!

In my Apache error log it says: (Edited)

Code:
[Fri Oct 06 08:27:46 2006] [error] [client ###.###.###.###] /usr/local/Content4/cgi-bin/admin/file.exe: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[Fri Oct 06 08:27:46 2006] [error] [client ###.###.###.###] Premature end of script headers: file.exe
I have libc.so.6 in my /lib directory, but it is a link to libc-2.4.so in the same directory. So, I don't know if the problem is that Apache isn't looking in the /lib directory or if the link is throwing things off. Any ideas? I'll keep plugging away... and check my logs more often.

Question

Does anyone know where Apache 2.2 looks for shared objects? I have been to the Apache site again and googled more and still can't solve my problem. Argh.

Solution, at last! :)

I figured it out finally. The CONTENTdm install instructions say to put the following in your Apache config:

SetEnv LD_ASSUME_KERNEL 2.4.19

I simply commented this out and found that it solved my problem.

Ah, I like easy fixes... even if they take me a couple days to figure out! I hope this thread helps someone else with the same or similar problem.
