Apache 2.0 won't install on Ubuntu 6.06

I have downloaded this version of Apache.
I unzipped and tried to install it in /usr/local/apache as root giving these prefixes:

Quote:

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache --enable-dav --with-mpm=prefork --enable-so
Everything was fine until i executed the "make install" command and an error occured.
Because the dump is a bit too large to show (I can't see the whole of it in the command line!) here are the last lines which may show what's wrong

Can anyone tell me what went wrong and the installation was incomplete?

Is there any reason you wish to compile Apache?

You can get the binary packages directly from the Ubuntu repositories.

I just want all of the associated files to be in one directory rather than being scattered in the entire "/" .
Does it has something to do with the compiling programs I need?
