Any successful RHEL/Centos 5 openldap environments out there?

Has anyone out there been successful in creating an openldap environment with an openldap server and linux clients? If so - how did you configure your clients to authenticate against the ldap server?

use system-config-authentication (i think) and choose ldap and enter the required details. if you need to enter details more specific than those you've entered, just directly edit /etc/ldap.conf
