AFP Netatalk setup for HPFS+ file system access via crossover cable
 
I am planning to set up an individual internal SCSI with HPFS+ File system on a linux box to have my (soon to be purchased) mac-mini upload copies of time machine backups to via a crossover cat6 cable.

Any tips / suggestions? Never done this before...

Do you mean an iSCSI disk using HPFS+, or a SCSI-system (or SAS, perhaps, as SCSI is ancient history) exporting a volume with netatalk?

If you export a (virtual) disk with iSCSI, the Mac can format the drive with HPFS+ and use it directly. No need for netatalk.

If you export a disk with netatalk, the Mac will access the files on the volume over the network. No need to use HPFS+ on the disk.

Oh man sorry, ugh (memory issues) I meant SATA 3

Cool I am planning to export a disk with netatalk but disable wireless network access to the file server and simple access with crossover cable. Thats very cool that I don't need HPFS+ because its already EXT4 partitioned but with MBR and planning to convert to GPT to extend the space available to full 3TB.
