add an A record

I have a new server running CentOS and cpanel. I need to manually add an A record for the servername. When I check dnsstuff.com I get the error to create an A record. I need to create A record for server.servername.net

Thanks.

svrfirst, you will need to add the A record for your hostname to the domain's zonefile. Say your hostname is server1 and domain is domain.com, edit the domain.com zonefile and add server1 A record it goes to something to this effect

server1 IN A <IPADDR>
then restart your nameserver. (/etc/init.d/named restart)

If you ain't running your own nameserver then contact your nameserver admin to do this for you otherwise you will have to do this yourself.
Also when you are using dnsstuff.com your domain must be a FQDN for it to give an good information.
