403 error in Apache


I am getting this when tying to access any pages below my index.html
/var/www/html/index.html
/var/www/html/Folder/folder.html




Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /Folder/folder.html on this server.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at myurl.bob.com Port 80





any ideas???

Hi there,

Simple question, but my first idea would be to check what are the permission of the files you are trying to access. For a website, if you want the world to be able to read them, make sure that the files have a read permission in the last group.

Try something like

chmod 744 /var/html/*

Glad to be of any help. This is one of the great things of forums like this one. Sometimes, in a problem, you think from noon to five o'clock for the solution, while it's right under your nose.

I was in the same situation many times.
