2.6.17 fails to compile, kbuild.include not found

I'm trying to compile kernel 2.6.17 on my Vector 5.1 system (Slackware 10 based).
I have built 2.6.13 several times on this without a problem, but when I try to make config, I get the following errors:

# make oldconfig
Makefile:266: /usr/src/linux-2.6.17/scripts/Kbuild.include: No such file or directory
/bin/sh: line 0: [: -lt: unary operator expected
make: *** No rule to make target `/usr/src/linux-2.6.17/scripts/Kbuild.include'. Stop.

I have tried make ver. 3.80 and 3.81, and also tried "make xconfig", both with the same error.

Thanks!

Ok, the error meant just what it said, the file Kbuild.include was missing (& many others). My disk had run out of space while extracting.
