`Dell PowerEdge 11G T410` - Cannot detect HDD

1 Attachment(s)
My university just bough this piece, I need to use it for modelization work. But I cannot get it to work, front panel tray hdds are connected to a this card(Picture attached). I tried many different distros, but still non can detect the HDD.

I guess I need a driver, there is no model info on the card itself, lspci is a huge mass. I have no idea which driver that I need. When I unplug the front panel it gives : "SAS cable A failure. Check connection." , so I guess this is a SAS card?

Any help will be appreciated, both by me and dozen other desperate engineering students who will be depending on this server :)

Since I had similar issue with SAS RAID controller (adaptec) maybe this post will help you:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...3-37-a-935355/

My problem was that I could not see this device when I upgraded from Slackware13.1 to Slackware13.37. Finally we found out that some pci parameters (pci=nocrs) should be appended at kernel boot.

Hope it helps

With the card installed Dell systems on boot will typically show what controller card is installed. Once you have that you might be able to narrow things down a bit more. Also make sure that you have the cabling right. The error you are describing makes me think that the cabling is not quite right.
