Are you just setting apache up? Have you had it running at all and been able to access files? What file were you trying to access when you got this message? File does not exist. Does that file exist in the appropriate directory? Is your apache set up on a local machine?

May be some deamon checking for the apache service locally with http://localhost and throwing that error on logs. Check apache configuration properly and create that dir under apache docs root for '/htdocs' or find out which process accesses accessing this.

Your apache config files will be somewhere around: /etc/apache2/

look for httpd.conf
also look for other configuration files there.

To find out if it is a daemon type this as root or someone with privileges:
Code:
ps -A
and cut and copy the result here. My thinking is that there is a daemon running.

apache2 used apache2.conf and not httpd.conf

and here's the output:

Code:
