From work I setup squid on my home box pretty much with the default file except i am running it on port 21 for testing purposes(one of two ports we have open). I can go to all sites download and do anything I want. Have not had any problems for over a month. When I try to play yahoo games or fulltiltpoker it will not connect to their servers. I am forwarding all protocols in IE and Firefox to use port 21. Tried googling and searching and cannot find anything. Not sure what I am missing or what i need to change in the squid.conf file. Any help would be appreciated. I also have no problems running mIrc through the proxy server. I am testing before I implement this into buisness setting and just curious why these apps do not work and what others are not compatible.

Two forums i have posted on and still no answear on either. Has anyone else tried or have problems on these kind of websites or Apps?

My wife and I play pogo games just fine -- even playing against each other -- using two home-networked FC4 machines through a Smoothwall box. Squid is active on smoothwall to filter content to my kids' computers, but I've configured smoothwall to allow unfettered access to the internet for my and my wife's systems.

Actually, it's a bit more complicated than that insomuch as I live in a very rural part of the U.S. and have satellite internet service; dsl, cable, and wisp aren't available. The satmodem runs a web proxy that I cannot disable.

I don't know a lot about squid, but if you want me to look at some config files on the smoothwall box, I'd be happy to.

Have you tried changing the proxy setting in Firefox (or whatever browser you're using) to manually specify the proxy or perhaps try setting it to Direct?

Try adding this to squid.conf

acl myacl dstdomain *.pogo.com
always_direct allow myacl
