I am running RHEL v.4 as my border router and LAMP server. I have most of my security set up but I am still worried about viruses. I have been searching around the internet to try and find a virus scanner and have found a few of them but they're only for the i386 platform. Does anyone know where I could download one for the 64bit OS or is there so much of a different from the x86 to the 64bit version that those worms and viruses that are out there that they only affect the x86 platform?
32 bit will run and work just fine on a 64 bit system. Virii and worms don't care whether it's a 32 or 64 bit system. Also, it's not good practice to run other apps on the same system as a router. Especially web servers.
