why not install g++ and compatible program on production


it is "compilable". not "compatible"

Here's a relevant quote from page 64 of Hardening Linux (by James Turnbull):

Compilers and associated development tools are incredibly useful to have on your system - that is, they are handy for you and any potential attackers. If an attacker has access to development tools, it makes the process of penetrating your system easier. An attacker can write their own penetration programs on your system and then use your compilers and development tools to compile them. Additionally, some root kits require the attacker compile them on your system. Removing the compilers and development tools makes it that much harder for an attacker.
