Question why is auth,portmap, 113 needed for?


If I block 113, 111 ports, what will I cause. Will that interupt any of the following services

dns
http
ftp
ssh

I found that blocking 113 causes slow FTP logins, but it doesn't interfere with SSH. Don't know about any of the other deamons. See here:

I found in sendmail manual, that pop and imap need 113 ?

but on the other hand firewall people say that open 113 port is evil for security
