Which twofish algorithm to enable?

Hi --

I am currently using a 2.6.22-gentoo-r5 kernel, and am browsing through the "Crytographic Options" menu in menuconfig. I am running a Pentium 4-m laptop. Should I choose "Twofish Cipher Algorithm" or "Twofish Cipher Algorithm (i586)"? Or both? I can't tell if the "i586" one means "i586 and above", "i586 only", or "i586 and below". I was worried about the one that doesn't say "(i586)" being optimized"i386/i486 and above" instead of i686 optimized. Is the unlabeled one a generic setting for all x86 processors?

What is the difference between the two? The help options don't really clear anything up. They both say exactly the same thing:

Quote:
Twofish was submitted as an AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) candidate cipher by researchers at CounterPane Systems. It is a 16 round block cipher supporting key sizes of 128, 192, and 256 bits.
I realize that I could probably just enable both, but I only want the one I need. I don't want the bloat of the unnecessary one, and would like to use the one that is faster on an i686.

Which one is the best option for a pentium 4-m. Please do not tell me that I can probably enable both (go back two sentences and reread if you want to know why).

Thanks for your time.

Since you have a i686 processor, you want Twofish Cipher Algorithm (i586). It is written in assembly and performs faster. Here's a comparison that I found in a patch email discussion:

Quote:
Twofish Assembler vs. Twofish C (256bit 8kb block CBC)
encrypt: -33% Cycles
decrypt: -45% Cycles
