which kerlen is the "latest" kernel?

Hello

I am running a website off of my machine and am concerned about security. I want to have everything updated and was wondering about the kernel. Yum tells me that the latest kernel is 2.4.22-1.2174, but I know that the 2.6 kernel is available. Am I safe to use the 2174 kernel or am I safer to use the 2.6 kernel? thanks

2.4.25 is the latest kernel from the 2.4 series
2.6.4 is the latest kernel from the 2.6 series
(also check www.kernel.org)

it is probably safest to run 2.4 on a server, since 2.6 is still under heavy development.
