VBS.Loveletter.D

I now have problems with hotmail because my account has been hacked. Spam was send from my account, and some friends told me.

I changed my password, but this didn't solve the problem. I installed ClamTK and I analysed my directory.

One of the virus found, was a PDF with VBS.Loveletter.D virus. What should I do? I want to save the file, but I don't know if this virus is dangerous.

Thanks in advance

For starters, this is a Windows virus/worm that works on VB Scripts. It will pose little to no direct threat to a Linux system. See the following link for information on it: http://www.mcafee.com/threat-intelli....aspx?id=98617 As far as what it does, according to the link, it looks like it replaces a bunch of files, such as images, and music with copies of the virus. It also alters the Windows registry. It appears to be primarily propagated through email.

WRT your Hotmail spam problem, the first thing to do would be to get one of these messages, including the FULL header. It is possible that your address has been spoofed and added to the bottom of the header chain so that you receive the complaints because you appear to be the sender. If you have changed your password on your hotmail account and are using a good password, it is doubtful that your account remains compromised, assuming it was in the first place.

That's what I thought about the virus. Then, I'll use it, and when I can, I'll delete it before it infects a windows system.

And the other problem, the hotmail, I thought it was a virus problem, but I see not. I think it first sent spam, but now, it starts MSN chats, and sends links (I don't see my words, I only see my contacts' answers).

I've changed my password few days ago, when I noticed the problem, but it doesn't seem to work...

Thanks

EDIT: What I'll now do is analyse all my Ubuntu system, a virus is my only explanation to the hotmail problem
