Storing passwords

Is storing passwords in Firefox safe? If not please recommend a good password manager. We are buyers on many online stores and change passwords frequently, I can't remember them all

There was a recent report that the password manager in Firefox is not safe.

I don't trust any password storage application. If you are at home then maybe you could write the passwords down. Keep the paper with the passwords in some place that isn't obvious like in a vase. If you are at work then keep the paper with the passwords in your wallet.
