Past home, it doens't matter, if it were a permissions issue it would affect both users.

Never did, just created another user with the same primary group as prod, using prod to run the processes, using the new user for file transfers with group permissions instead of user permsissions. Not as clean, not quite as good security, but it works and I was able to move on to other things.
