I am just blocking it by hosts.deny

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I just put this line in hosts.deny and it has worked well for years. Averagely there are about 10~50 attempts per day.

ALL: ALL EXCEPT 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0
