snort documentation

Can anyone point me in the right place where I'd find step by step documentation for Snort? Thanks.

I'd say check out http://www.snort.org/docs/ first.

OK. I am following the documentation from the snort website by Patrick Harper. I'm at the step where you "cd rules" from the snort installation directory (snort 2.4) and copy them into the /etc/snort/rules it said to create. The problem is, I don't see that rules directory within the snort installation directory. Anyone know where it is? I don't see it anywhere.... Thanks.
