Hello Everybody.
I have a server.. i have poor knolege of slackware (the tipe of linux installed on my server)
I lost my root password.. or someone changed it.
I heard that i can change it back with the slackware boot cd.
I'd like to know how.. and are there any other commands that i have to enter.. or are there other stuff that i have to do?

P.S. i still have a user installed on my server. Maybe this can help.

Hello and welcome to LQ.
Please don't tack on your questions to threads, especially not old threads.
Making a new thread for your question guarantees your question gets the exposure it need.

Boot the CD, mount your partitions, and you root partition read-write.
If you use shadowed passwords, edit /etc/shadow: vi /etc/shadow
Execute command to replace root line: :.!grep ^root /etc/shadow|cut -d ":" -f 1,3-|sed "s|:|::|"
or remove from the root line everything between the second and third colon. If you don't use shadowed passwords: you should. Edit /etc/passwd
Save, quit: :wq
Now sync, umount all, reboot. You removed the pass, so add a new one.
If you don't use shadowed passwords now "man pwconv" and convert.
