shorewall -- opening a port

i opened a port and restarted my server. within the next 2 hours, it was working fine, but after that, the Shorewall firewall somehow blocked it... port was no longer opened. i know this because the app that i was trying to access no longer worked. and i know this sounds crazy, but it really happened.

here's how i opened the port

Accept all all tcp 80,443,3306,<newSSHport>

after that i restarted the firewall using the following command

/etc/rc.d/init.d/shorewall restart

not sure why about 2 hours later, it's stop working.

i appreciate any advice on what i should to get the Shorewall firewall to work properly. opening a port should be a simple matter.

thanks,

Run, as root, :
Code:
tail -f /var/log/messages
when you are trying to access the app that its blocking. Post back here any messages involving shorewall.

Also run (as root):
Code:
netstat -nlp
and verify that this app is still running and is listening on that port.
