Set UID


Hi

* if i put "chmod 4655 scriptfile" i can set the new permission which is displayed below.

-rwSr-xr-x 1 root root 16 May 27 16:47 scriptfile

* if i put "chmod 4555 scriptfile" i can set the new permission which is displayed below.

-rwsr-xr-x 1 root root 16 May 27 16:47 scriptfile

if it is "s" , user can run the script with privileges. what about "S"

what is the difference between those things.

Kindly tell me.

Hi

OK

"t" and "T" is for Sticky Bit. What about the "S". How "S" is related with Stickybit. I am confusing this. kindly explain.

r = read, w = write, x = executable
s = x + suid(set user id)
S = only suid and no execuatable permission set
