This is my first post,even though i am an user here for longer time. so i want my first to get a better, no best result.
I have sendmail configured along with squirel mail. i had a problem in the morning that the queue is not processing.
i just cleared the queue and restart the services httpd,xinetd. then it works fine
Now i see smtp is getting down frequently.The sendmail shows a lot of process going on.
service sendmail status......
can anyone help me to sort it out.
and i found somebody enetered and added somefiles indside my system.
how can i recover my system

If the system is local then boot from a Live CD like KNOPPIX or HELIX and please read and act on this first: Intruder Detection Checklist (CERT): http://www.cert.org/tech_tips/intrud...checklist.html
If the system is remote proceed with the checklist. Please post any results.

If your system was compromised then follow up here: Steps for Recovering from a UNIX or NT System Compromise (CERT): http://www.cert.org/tech_tips/root_compromise.html. Note you should not attempt to "recover" a compromised system but reinstall from scratch, harden and maintain properly.
