Security Worry

Hello,

I am worried about a link that I have clicked on that somehow it may have compromised the security on my computer, the link is -

http://www.emuparadise.org/roms/

I clicked on the link - click here to proceed to roms, and a pop-up password box popped up and I had to enter the username and password, I did this to try and access the site but it wouldnt let me in, after doing so I suddenly thought, perhaps this is not a real password box and it has somehow compromised the security of my computer?

Can anyone help me with this? I dont know enough about it to know if this is a genuine site or if it is a trick that has made me give up my security?

I would be very grateful for any help,

Thanks

Also - Just so you know I am using Suse Linux 9.2 and Mozilla Firefox 1.0.4

Thanks

Well, I think I may have downloaded every ROM they have on the site.
BTW - you are immune to windows viruses....

Ah cool, and youve never had any problems? Actually I just read another article of someone complaining that an emulator they downloaded from there contained a trojan, so I guess it must have been in that rather than the roms, did you access the site by the password box? It wouldnt work for me thats why I ended up thinking it was a con, could a password box like that cause a security breach in firefox?

Dude,

Don't enter your username and password from your computer. They want you to enter the username and password on their computer to get in.

And they have both of those listed right on the page.

I can't believe I didn't think of that <whack!>

Yeah - it's right there....but again about the virus thing....99% of the viruses in this world are written for windows. That's a big reason why people use linux. There aren't really enough of us to care, and the security is tight enough that it makes it an even greater challenge.

So, while all of your friends running XP have issues with spyware, and viruses, and all that other garbage.....you can kick your feet up and smile. Until they ask you to help.....
