security using bittorrent

If someone is downloading something, say, the latest release of Slackware using a Bittorrent client, is it possible for someone ELSE (say the FBI) to track what you're downloading and to WHERE it's downloading (you know, your IP address), or is it so random that it couldn't be traced.

I'd think that if you were downloading the torrent file from a websight, that server would have a log of your IP adderess.

Any other ideas?
