Security Updates for Debian 6.0.5 Stable

Hi:

Before I install security updates I have a question about one of them.

This security update that's in my Update Manager is for Sid unstable.
http://packages.debian.org/sid/libisccc60

Did Debian see that this was stable for Sid and for Squeeze?

Do a lot of folks encounter the same type of instantances like this?
(By "this" I mean recieve updates for Sid)

I checked on " libisc62" and that update is ok to install from what I read on this Debian site.
http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/libisc62

Since installing Debian these are my first group of updates-

Unless for some odd reason you have sid in your sources.list the security update is for Stable Not sid.

Some of the time when there is a security update for Stable those of us running sid will have an update for the same app.

The versions are no where close to being the same.

$ apt-cache policy libisccc80
libisccc80:
Installed: 1:9.8.1.dfsg.P1-4.2
Candidate: 1:9.8.1.dfsg.P1-4.2
Version table:
*** 1:9.8.1.dfsg.P1-4.2 0
500 http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian/ unstable/main i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

$ apt-cache policy libisc83
libisc83:
Installed: 1:9.8.1.dfsg.P1-4.2
Candidate: 1:9.8.1.dfsg.P1-4.2
Version table:
*** 1:9.8.1.dfsg.P1-4.2 0
500 http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian/ unstable/main i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

$ apt-cache policy bind9
bind9:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 1:9.8.1.dfsg.P1-4.2
Version table:
1:9.8.1.dfsg.P1-4.2 0
500 http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian/ unstable/main i386 Packages

Security updates are not only OK to install they definitely should be installed.

I see that your security update is simular to mine but the number proceeding the update at the end is different; <libiscc80 is not libiscco60> Agreed; they are not the same as you said.

I noticed that when I checked on the updates in Google that the same updates for my system were also update for Lucid 10.04- I get it now-

Anyway; the link's to the mirror index's of debian and the index of debian/indices were helpful.
Those index's helped me to understand more; thanks
