security in managed colocation

Planning to have a site in "managed colocation".

What would be a good procedure to write to disk the encrypted private details of new members using a PHP CGI script?

Some of those encrypted details need to be accessed for authentication
when new members subsequently log on.

Would an encrypted partition automatically do this?

I think this has *nothing* at all to do with colocation but is more of a programming topic (as in Secure Website Login Programming with PHP & MySQL) and would be better of in the Programming forum.
