rsh problem - PAM authentication failed for in.rlogind
Hi all,
I'm having a problem with rsh - I know I should really be using ssh but my hands are tied in that respect.
Any assistance with this would be appreciated!
Essentially the problem I have is that even though I have entries in my .rhosts files my rsh's are failing.
eg. If I try an rsh to localhost (non-root login and correct .rhosts file) I get the following entries in my log file:
Dec 5 15:59:08 wgc-test pam_rhosts_auth[916]: allowed to external@wgc-test as external
Dec 5 15:59:08 wgc-test in.rlogind[916]: PAM authentication failed for in.rlogind
Dec 5 15:59:11 wgc-test remote(pam_unix)[918]: authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty=pts/4 ruser= rhost=wgc-test user=external
This seems to suggest that my rhosts file is OK and something else is authenticating my connection!
Has anybody else had this problem please?
Many thanks,
Dave
