I can't remember how RH's grub config was, but try this...
start your PC, and when grub show up, select the line you ususally use to boot linux. then, instead of hitting <enter> to boot, hit <e> (for edit), select the line starting with kernel, and hit <e> again. append "single" (without quotation marks) to that line. then hit <enter> and <b> (for boot) and your linux should start without any question into the single-user-mode with full root rights! Use passwd to reset your root password, type exit to start normally.
