Post root loging problem


i had installed both linux server command line and gnom on my linux server . i had created couple of users created using gnom system seting creat cuser. my server was running fine from the past 2 months but now it is not taking the root password is says application error "gnom_setting_daemon" has creashed it says this and not getting logedin. but which i try to login through any other user it is longing . what would be the problem please help me out.

did you try logging to the console as root
just try loging to the terminal at
crtl+alt+f1-f6
and try to login as the root .
