.rhosts don't work with Mandriva 2006 Free

Hi there,

I can't make the .rhosts file works in a fresh Mandriva Free Edition 2006.

Here is the .rhosts :
ticerosrv1 ticero

The rights are the following : in ~root
4 -r-------- 1 root root 7 avr 26 11:13 .rhosts

What I want to do is that user named ticero can su root without password (only for test of course !)

I'm a security level named 'Plus eleve' in French (something like 'more higher' in English).

Is there a good reason for this ?

Thansk's in advance

.rhosts isn't something that allows you to do "su" locally.

it stands for Remote Hosts.

Basically it will allow remote hosts and users in the file to run commands as the user (in this case root) on the local host.....

Thank's for the answer. Is there any way to make su - root possible without password for a user ?
