Restricting clients to join NIS

We have a NIS server. Anyone who knows the domain name and IP address of the NIS server can log in as root into Linux clients and add it to NIS server.

Could anyone please tell me how to allow particular IPs to join to NIS? We can configure static IP to the linux machines.
