Possible to get around content-filtering software?

I actually have some appropiate and legitimate websites I need access to, but DansGaurdian (a content filtering program) is blocking them (this is at my dorm at school). Sometimes accessing the site by IP intead of URL works, but sometimes it doesn't. What can I do?

Ask your administrator to stop blocking access to those legitimate sites. Beyond that, trying to circumvent access restriction against the admins wishes is not something we advocate here and is a violation of our site policy.

Yeah, I do think my post falls into the gray category and you really can't help me out, I will try to contact the sys admin for what it's worth.
