Hi All,
I am trying to create passwordless authentication but it is not working. Host server is RHEL 5.1 and remote server is solaris 10. The user i am logged in is common user or i should say NIS user. So when i create key files in .ssh directory, it automaticaly reflects in my remote server home directory, so i didn't copied anything from host to remote server as it is common mount. Please suggest how to get this working.
Below is what i tried.
Code:
$ hostname
servername
$ pwd
/home/UserName/.ssh
$ ssh-keygen -t rsa -N '' -f ./id_rsa
Generating public/private rsa key pair.
Your identification has been saved in ./id_rsa.
Your public key has been saved in ./id_rsa.pub.
The key fingerprint is:
64:38:3e:e6:46:8c:74:50:92:76:08:fc:cc:8c:64:7d UserName@servername
$ cat id_rsa.pub >> authorized_keys
$ ls -lad .ssh
drwx------ 2 UserName UserName 4096 Mar 22 00:30 .ssh
$ ls -la .ssh
total 28
drwx------ 2 UserName UserName 4096 Mar 22 00:30 .
drwxrwxr-x 13 UserName UserName 8192 Mar 22 00:15 ..
-rwx------ 1 UserName UserName 404 Mar 22 00:26 authorized_keys
-rwx------ 1 UserName UserName 1675 Mar 22 00:24 id_rsa
-rwx------ 1 UserName UserName 404 Mar 22 00:24 id_rsa.pub
-rwx------ 1 UserName UserName 679 Mar 22 00:56 known_hosts
$
And then i am trying to ssh to remotehost, it is asking password. Please sugest.
Code:
$ ssh UserName@RemoteHostName
Thanks.
