Password Protecting Web Folders

I'm using Fedora Core 4 with KDE. I'm hosting a small personal website, primarily for resource purposes, using the "Public File Server" applets. The url for it is http://147.133.202.100:8001 ( formerly http://www.marcusadams.4t.com ). I was wondering though, I would like to share my music and other personal file folders this way so I can get to them from "anywhere", but I want to know how to password protect them first. How would I go about setting this up?

Id recomend switching to Apache and setting up a .htaccess to restrict access, something like this should do it:

I agree with Artanicus. Switch to Apache and use .htacces , you find more info on http://openchemist.net/linux/howto.php?id=n005
