Password Protecting Web Folders

Hello would this work with any linux ..

I need to password protect a web folder, Say http://yourdomain.com/shop/

this is what i have found, is there a better way to do it...

I have seen another one around which show you step by step with images
but i have lost the link.

any ideas please...

That is a fairly good explaination and will work fine. Note that you don;t actually need to create the "valid-users" group since it is built in. You can however create your own groups.

If you would prefer to use a mysql database then see:

Will that sample bring up a net work log in box of some type ?
